GCK MOTORSPORT

A men Guerlain Chicherit, a team GCK Motorsport

Created by Guerlain Chicherit, GCK Motorsport is positioned at the forefront of the development of solutions promoting more sober motorsport. The sports showcase of the GCK group is committed to switching all its racing projects to green energy only: biofuel, electric, hydrogen.

From snowy off-piste to sandy slopes

Born on May the 20th of 1978, Guerlain Chicherit made a name for himself in the 2000s by becoming four-time freeride ski world champion. At the same time, he got into motor racing and in 2003 won the Championnat de France des Rallyes Terrestres in a Citroën Saxo, finishing three times on the scratch podium (Auvergne, Provence and Cévennes). He was then noticed by Citroën who offered him a steering wheel in the Junior WRC.

Love at first sight

At the end of 2004, Guerlain Chicherit and Mathieu Baumel won a promotion operation organized by ASO and the FFSA, a success that earned them an invitation to take part in the 2005 Dakar. It was the start of a love affair with this race in which Guerlain Chicherit finished 9th in 2006, then 5th in 2010 – his best result to date, with a stage victory at stake. In 2009, he won the rally-raid world cup with victories at the Desert Challenge (Abu Dhabi) and the Transiberico (Spain and Portugal).

From GC Kompetition to GCK Motorsport

Guerlain Chicherit discovered rallycross at Lohéac in 2015 with a Mini RX and immediately got caught up in this spectacular discipline. In 2017, he created GC Kompetition, his racing team which will become GCK Motorsport in 2021. The structure based in Issoire (Puy-de-Dôme) quickly distinguished itself thanks to the results of the Renault Megane RS RX and Clio RS RX that it entered in World RX with several podiums at stake. Proof of its organizational strength, the team fields up to five cars per round during the 2019 and 2020 seasons with top-notch drivers like Cyril Raymond or Anton Marklund.

Ecological shift

Guerlain Chicherit grew up in Savoie, in Tignes, where he was able to closely observe the harmful effects of global warming. From 2017, he only conceives of satisfying his passion for motorsport if the races and organizations in which he is involved are more responsible. With GCK Motorsport, he evolves in an environment at the heart of which the consumption of green energy plays a key role. Because the commitments of the racing team are part of a more global project carried out by the GCK group, in particular by its subsidiary GCK Energy, which offers solutions to supply the paddocks and bivouacs with carbon-free electricity.

GCK’s Delta creating buzz

In 2022, the team will make motorsport history by becoming the first team to enter a retrofitted electric car in a race counting towards a world championship. The Lancia Delta Evo-e RX, entirely designed and manufactured by GCK Performance, makes its highly-acclaimed debut at the World RX of Germany, both for its compelling looks and its class-leading performance.

Change the rules

On the rally-raid side, Guerlain Chicherit and GCK Motorsport are committed to a multi-year program aimed at winning the Dakar by 2027 with a zero-emission hydrogen vehicle. This program, carried out in several stages, begins in 2022 with the commitment of a Prodrive Hunter 4×4 whose turbo V6 is powered by a sustainable biofuel made from agricultural waste which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 80% compared to traditional gasoline. For his debut, Guerlain Chicherit won the Rallye du Maroc with Alex Winocq!

At the same time, GCK Performance will start developing the GCK e-Blast H2 in 2021, a vehicle equipped with one of the most powerful fuel cells on the market. This extraordinary machine, designed and manufactured by GCK Performance, will become the first competition vehicle to take the start of the Dakar, in January 2024, with Philippe Croizon. The buggy and the technology it embeds will have to withstand the extreme conditions imposed by the most difficult motor racing in the world, in particular the heat and repeated shocks that can reach 10 g.
